Got my froyo from vodafone on nexus one …

Finally – after waiting a few weeks – I got my froyo update for my nexus one which I bought in a vodafone shop (and use it with a FONIC data flat). The installation was working without any problems and I still have all settings and applications. It is definitly faster and the wifi hotspot works fine … bye bye surfstick … bye bye umts contract … hello android!

60,000 Android phones, like Nexus One, are sold daily and activated.

This is a number times 60,000 phones a day. Who would have expected to have been published as yet last year, on average “only” about 2000 Apps in the market in the month. They are about 22 million a year.  Now we are at about 9000 (March) and in April alone already 4955.

Android Alliance release new SKD

A few days ago, the new Android SDK was released. There are no signifieds user features added in version 2.1. Primarily benefit from this update Nexus One developer.
You can add the update with the SDK Manager.

All changes can be found in the Release Notes on the Android developer site.
Two new extensions in the API are the live wallpaper and the signal strength. The live wallpapers are already being used in the Nexus One.

Getting started with android game development

I found an interesting blog post from Robert Green. He developed the game “light racer” for android which had 250k downloads after a development time of 3 weeks ;) (this is what he says on his website). In his blog he explains how he is refactoring this game for a 3D version on android … worth reading:

Google announces navigation for android 2.0

Google announces a navigation module built on google maps. It will work on android 2.0 phones and it will be free! And of course it will work over internet – with all infos available at google (maps). See this video for more info:
